ACTS 29 FOCCUS administers a domestic food assistance program from a partner church, Tabernacle of God, 13303 Lynn Road in Tampa. Food commodities are distributed to families on a monthly basis.
The program has continued to grow tremendously since its inception. This growth has not only occurred with the number of family’s receiving assistance, but with the number of food donations we receive each month. Many of the people we serve use the food as a ministry opportunity for themselves. One recipiant distributes the food to her neighbors after a bible study. Another who is a retired pastor uses the food to knock on doors and share the “Love of Christ” to those in need. Still another, prepares the food provided and distributes it to the homeless in their community.
Without this ministry, many families in the community would be hungry and could not make “ends meet”. Some families only receive assistance for a few months, while others have received our help for several years. Each family has their own story, but all receive the “Love of Christ” with each visit. With each box of food the families have the opportunity to receive either an audio teaching from the Word, a Christian magazine, tract or book sharing the gospel message. We are blessed to not only fill the cupboards of these families, but to fill their hearts with the love of Jesus. We continue to assure the families we serve every month, that Jesus is our rock and despite the trials… we will not be shaken. Psalm 16:8
God has allowed ACTS 29 FOCCUS to come along side many that have a need for food donations. Whether it be feeding over 200 homeless an evening meal, or helping a family from the congregation who has come upon hard times, the need is great.
